Meet Ernst & Young’s American Pi
It’s official – we at Raw Talent Guitar have identified the nerdiest band on the planet. We give you American Pi, a group that just won the Ernst & Young LLP Battle of the Bands competition. If you don’t know, Ernst & Young is a global accounting and consulting company. And the competition was fierce, including nerds, er, bands from around the consulting world. The winners are from E&Y’s Advisory Services Performance Improvement Practice. Article below from NJ.com:
In an international competition that took executives out of the boardroom and onto the stage, a group from Ernst & Young emerged victorious.
Ernst & Young’s American PI was named Best Corporate Band at the recent 11th annual Fortune Battle of the Corporate Bands competition held at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland.
The group battled against seven other corporate bands from around the world that advanced through earlier regional and semi-final events in Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco. The judge’s panel included Mickey Thomas’ Starship bassist Jeff Adams, .38 Special band member Jeff Carlisi, former Billy Joel drummer Liberty DeVitto and Sheryl Crow guitarist Peter Stroud.
The winning band members are full-time employees in Ernst & Young’s Advisory Services Performance Improvement (PI) practice. They played unique arrangements of well-known hits. Rehearsal time is a challenge, as the band’s 12 members are located across the country; they used conference calls and flow charts to share ideas and select songs.
