Lesson 11.2 – Shuffle Blues Strumming Pattern

Shuffle Rhythm is an 8th note rhythmic feel commonly associated with jazz, rock and blues music. It is based on triplet subdivisions of the beat, where the first note is a long and heavy, and the second is short and light.

One way to show shuffle rhythm notation is to use straight eighth notes throughout the song. At the beginning of the music it will tell you to treat the eighth notes as shuffle eighth notes with these markings.
