Lesson 12.1 – B9 Chord

A 9th chord, or Dominant 9th, is a Dominant 7th with the 9th note added. Remember the Dominant 7th is a Major Triad with the 7th note flatted. Now we add the 9th to it.

Here is the B Major scale with the notes of the B9 chord highlighted. Notice the A# is dropped a half step (flatted 7th) to an A natural.
