Lesson 7.2 – The D Minor Chord

We can take the same principle of dropping the 3rd note a half-step to create a minor chord from the major chord triad (1-3-5) with the D chord.

For the key of D – the 3rd note in the scale is F# (D – E – F#). If we drop the F# one half-note we get to F. So the D minor chord contains the notes D, F, and G).
